Back-to-School Clean-Outs: Don't Curb the Good Stuff

Every August, the same thing happens across the OKC metro: back-to-school season kicks off the great bedroom purge. New school year, new start — and the kids' closets finally give up everything they've been hiding since 2019.

Most of what comes out really is donate-pile material. But every year, good stuff rides the purge straight to the curb because it surfaced on a Tuesday night when everyone was tired. Before the bags leave the house, here's the thirty-second filter.

Pull these aside before they hit the curb

• Game consoles and handhelds — the Switch that got upgraded past, the dusty Wii, the DS in the junk drawer, and especially anything older that migrated from your own childhood: N64, GameCube, PlayStation 1/2, Game Boys.
• The games themselves — bins of loose DS carts, stacks of scratched-ish discs, that one shoebox of Pokémon games (seriously, check for the Pokémon games).
• Controllers, chargers, and accessories — even orphaned ones. The cables are worth more paired with the console they belong to, and we sort that out for you.
